River Gee County | April 6, 2026 | Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) assigned to River Gee County have apprehended a 39-year-old woman for allegedly being in possession of a large quantity of illegal drugs.

The suspect, identified as Beatrice Toe, a resident of Gbeapo Tartuken, was arrested on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Killepo Kanweaken checkpoint during a routine security operation.

The arrest was carried out by LDEA personnel operating under the command of Detachment Commander, Special Agent Bill M. Cooper Jr.

According to authorities, Toe was traveling from Monrovia to Tartuken in a commercial taxi with license plate number A121956.

The vehicle, which was transporting several passengers to various destinations in southeastern Liberia, was intercepted for a routine inspection.

During a detailed search of the vehicle and its occupants, officers reportedly discovered 40 strips of Tramadol pills and approximately 27 grams of a substance believed to be Kush.

The suspected narcotics were allegedly concealed in the woman’s handbag in an attempt to avoid detection.

The LDEA estimates the total street value of the seized drugs at approximately LRD 395,500, highlighting the scale of the suspected trafficking attempt.

The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation as authorities prepare to forward the case for prosecution.

LDEA officials say the arrest is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in River Gee County and across Liberia.

The agency has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening surveillance and intensifying enforcement actions aimed at curbing the trafficking and distribution of narcotics nationwide.
