Monrovia, Liberia-Friday, October 3, 2025-The Liberia Internet Exchange Point Association (LIXPA) on Thursday, October 2, 2025 met with the new Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) Board, marking a significant step in strengthening their partnership.
LIXPA’s executives engaged with LTA Chair Massaquoi and International Gateway Services Commissioner Angela Cassell Bush to discuss ongoing collaboration and future initiatives.

LIXPA plays a crucial role in managing the internet exchange point, which is physically housed at the Cable Consortium of Liberia on Lynch Street. The infrastructure enables member Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to interconnect and share local content more efficiently, without relying on international routes.
This setup also facilitates direct traffic exchange between Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and other network operators.
LIXPA is set to hold elections for new leadership on November 13, with the LTA organizing and hosting the process. The positions up for election include Chairperson, Co-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.
This leadership transition presents an opportunity for the association to continue its mission of enhancing internet services in Liberia.
LIXPA aims to expand its membership to include more ISPs, thereby increasing its effectiveness in serving the Liberian internet community.
LTA Chair Massaquoi and Commissioner Cassell Bush encouraged LIXPA to remain dedicated to its mission and assured the association of the LTA’s continued support under the new leadership.
The LTA is actively working with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to reclaim Liberia’s country code top-level domain (.lr), currently hosted by two private individuals. This initiative underscores the LTA’s commitment to advancing Liberia’s digital infrastructure and sovereignty.
