Monrovia, Liberia-Sunday, October 12, 2025- The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) recently convened a Mini-Summit on Online Safety and Consumer Protection for students from five prominent schools in Monrovia.

The interactive forum in a statement issued by the LTA Thursday, October 9, 2025 aimed to educate students on key digital safety topics, including scams, human trafficking, artificial intelligence (AI), and cyber-bullying.

Panelists encouraged students to use technology responsibly and harness tools like AI and ChatGPT for learning and innovation.

LTA Consumer Manager, Lekpele M. Nyamalon, urged students to speak out about online challenges and share their experiences to raise awareness and protect others.

This initiative is part of LTA’s nationwide outreach to promote digital literacy and consumer protection among young people. The program, which began two months ago in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, aims to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital world safely.

The participating schools included: St. Theresa’s Convent, Wells Hairston, Monrovia Central High, Muslim Congress High and BW Harris Episcopal High School respectively.

The Mini Summit provided a valuable opportunity for students to engage with LTA officials and peers on critical issues affecting their online safety and digital well-being.
