Voinjama City, Lofa County-Friday, October 17, 2025-Momentum is said to be building ahead of the launch of the district league. The move, sport authorities say is to energize grassroots sports across Lofa County and to identify young talents ahead of the official opening of the National County Sports Meet.
The competition will feature teams from all five electoral districts to be played in Voinjama.
League’s organizer say the purpose of the league is to identify potential players for the upcoming National County Meet to represent Lofa County as a singular unit. Players will be selected immediately after this game/league to play for the County team in the National County meet competition coming soon.
The league is to be funded through contribution from representatives of each electoral district (1 to 5). Senator Momoh T. Cyrus has made an initial contribution of LD$500,000, a championship trophy, and ten sets of jerseys for the league. The donation was made on October 16, 2025 at the Lofa County Administration offices in Sinkor, Monrovia.
Receiving the donation, the administration of the county represented by the Assistant Superintendent for Development, extended profound appreciation to Senator Cyrus, describing the gesture as a timely investment in the future of sports and youth empowerment in Lofa. He assured that the funds and materials will be used to enhance participation and strengthen community engagement through sports.
The planned district league has sparked renewed enthusiasm and optimism among teams and fans alike — setting the stage for what promises to be one of the most thrilling sporting seasons in Lofa County’s history.
