Citizens of the Matambo Corridor, Mendimasa and Seimavula Clans, Grand Cape Mount County are demanding payment of the 2024 Clans’ Development fund in the tone of US$150,000.

The citizens, in a mass meeting held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 in Gogoima Town, Mendimasa Clan, questioned their Lawmaker, Gbessay Sonii Fakai about the status of their 2024 clan development money amid news of payment of the 2025 money by the management of Bea Mountain Mining Company.

Responding to her citizens concerns, Representative Gbessay Sonii Fakai said she is also concerned about the clan development fund for the period 2024.

Representative Gbessay Sonii Fakai noted prior to her travels to the United States, discussion surrounding the 2024 Matambo Corridor Clan development fund with the BMMC Management, was initiated. But since her returned, she said no one has briefed her on anything concerning said fund.

She informed the citizens that she has questioned the company management about said fund, but the management informed her that they know nothing about it.

Meanwhile, the citizens have resolved to officially write the company and demand the payment of their 2024 clan development fund and that failure to comply, they will “paralyze” the company’s operation.

In a related development, a Liberian Lawyer, Cllr. Lamin Kpagolia, said, the MOU signed between the BMMC Management and the citizens of Matambo Corridor is “bad agreement”. Cllr Kpagolia said the agreement only has a starting time, but no expiration date. Secondly, he said the agreement failed to state the concession investment budget, making it difficult for citizens determine their two percent royalty.
