    Lofa County: Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital Renovation Commences

    Formal grounbreaking event for full renovation of the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital with funding provided by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Liberia.

    Voinjama City, Lofa County –Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025- The official launch of the full and complete renovation of the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Voinjama city, commenced on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the compound of the biggest health facility in the county.

    The renovation of Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital will include the rehabilitation the Operating Room (OR), Obstetrics (OB), Neonatal, and Surgical wards.

    According to information obtained Rural Reporters News Network, the rehabilitation of the county’s sole referral medical center is being funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In addition, the UNDP aims to enhance sanitary conditions and elevate the standard of healthcare delivery services in the region.

    The groundbreaking ceremony brought together members of the Tellewoyan family, medical practitioners, nurses, local officials, UNDP and other partners in the Health sector.

    According to ACDP program Manager Mr. Boye Johnson, the renovation project cost is nearly One Million United States Dollars.

    “This project is a critical step forward. It will fundamentally improve our hospital’s infrastructure, leading to better sanitary conditions and, most importantly, enhanced healthcare outcomes for our community,” Mr. Boye Johnson, Program Manager of ACDP disclosed.

    The renovation work is to be completed in March 2026 as per the work schedule that has been agreed and provided.

    Meanwhile, the construction company contracted to do the renovation work, has promised the UNDP and the County’s local authority that the renovation will be done within the context of durability and quality materials as well as timely.

    The “EYE TO EYE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY” management added that working for the community in which they live and operate, is enough evidence that the work will be one full quality.

    Also speaking, Lofa County Health Officer Dr. Moses Ujoe Weidehga called on community members to also regularly check the contractor and every aspect of the renovation to be done.

    “The project is for the people of Lofa County. Please look after it with your eyes wide open; today I’m here but tomorrow, I will be elsewhere though the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital, will remain forever. So kindly consider it as your own,” Dr. Weidehga solemnly, remarked.
