Monrovia, Liberia- Saturday, November 22, 2025 – A major consumer-engagement session is underway at the Group of 77 headquarters on Newport Street, bringing together representatives from physically challenged organizations, advocacy groups, and individuals with lived experiences.

The event, as part of LTA’s awareness campaign focuses on addressing critical issues impacting the Physically Challenged Community, including accessibility challenges, quality of service, and opportunities for more inclusive consumer services.

Composites pictures from the LTA dialogue with cross-section of phsically persons from the Group of 77 and others.

Participants are engaging in discussions aimed at strengthening dialogue between the Physically Challenged Community, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), and service providers.

The session seeks to foster collaboration and identify actionable steps toward improving accessibility and inclusivity in Liberia’s telecom and consumer services sectors.

The meeting highlights the importance of involving the Physically Challenged Community in decision-making processes to ensure their needs are met and services are tailored to be accessible and equitable.

The Group of 77 meeting in Liberia is focusing on accessibility challenges faced by persons with disabilities. Despite being qualified, physically challenged individuals are often denied jobs due to their disabilities. Insufficient vocational training, healthcare, and social inclusion programs hinder their integration into society.

Public spaces, transportation, and buildings are often inaccessible, restricting mobility and participation. There’s a need for accurate data on disabilities to inform policies and raise awareness. Existing policies, like the National Action Plan for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, require stronger enforcement and accountability.

However, the Liberian government, through the office of the Vice President, has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing challenges facing persons with disabilities, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and support.
