Tubmanburg City, Bomi County–Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025-The Nursing and Midwifery departments at Bomi Community College (BCC) have received a transformative lift, following the donation of a fifteen-seated bus from the Ministry of Health – an intervention welcomed as a game changer for one of the county’s most crucial training programs.

For years, the School of Health Sciences at BCC has played a central role in preparing the next generation of nurses and midwives for Bomi County and beyond.

Yet limited transportation has often hampered students’ ability to consistently access clinical sites, community health initiatives, and hands-on training opportunities essential to their professional growth.

    That challenge is now easing

During the handover, excitement filled the campus as administrators, faculty, and students hailed the vehicle as a major step forward in building a stronger, more accessible healthcare education system.

The new bus is expected to significantly improve mobility for nursing and midwifery students, enabling smoother travel to hospitals, clinics, and community outreach programs across the county.

“This donation is a huge step forward for our School of Health Sciences,” said Mr. Gabriel E. Moore, Dean for Student Affairs. “It will help our students get hands-on experience in various healthcare settings across the county, ultimately improving the quality of care they’ll provide in their future careers.”

The Ministry of Health’s gesture underscores its continued commitment to strengthening Liberia’s healthcare workforce through strategic support for training institutions.

With the addition of the bus, BCC is better positioned to expand practical learning, reinforce its curriculum, and ensure students graduate fully prepared for the realities of healthcare delivery.

For Bomi County, where skilled healthcare professionals remain in high demand, the impact of this donation reaches far beyond the college campus, offering renewed promise for improved services and healthier communities.
