Voinjama City, Lofa County—Friday, December 5, 2025—Leaders In Teaching (LIT) project, a five-year initiative aimed at improving students’ skills and competence, is to be introduced in Lofa County for the first time.

The project is set to revolutionize education in Liberia. It will focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and will recruit 900 secondary teachers, with 290 females at the various rural teachers training institutes (RTTIs) for B certificate with the necessary skills and competencies to teach in secondary schools and thereafter, enhance the quality of education across the country for the next five years.

The Community Safety Initiative (CSI) on December 4, 2025 had an inception and engagement meeting with the stakeholders to introduce and explain the overarching mission and goal of the Leaders In Teachers (LIT) project.

The meeting, brought together stakeholders from across the county, including the CEO and DEOs as well as educators; the physically challenged, and gender representative among others. Furthermore, the inception and engagement is designed to promote equal participation in classrooms for both male and female students.

CSI and LIT Officials in Inception and Engagement Meeting on December 4,2025.

Accordingly, the LIT project is built on three pillars, namely: teacher recruitments, teacher trainings, and improving education leadership and motivation for teachers.

The project will also focus on teacher profiling, village saving and loan associations, and the establishment of a technical working group for efficient supervision.

Speaking at the event, stakeholders praised the initiative; emphasizing its potential to improve education in Lofa County.

“This project is a game-changer for our county,” said a representative from the Ministry of Education.

“We are committed to supporting the LIT project to ensure its success.”

The project is being implemented by the Master Card Foundation through the Education Development Center, in partnership with local organizations.

The initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the county, providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete in the job market both near and afar.

The LIT project is part of a broader effort to improve education in Liberia, with a focus on promoting STEM education and empowering girls and women. The project is expected to contribute to the country’s development by producing a skilled and competent workforce.

The stakeholders urged all participants to take the training seriously, emphasizing the importance of education in transforming the county and the country as a whole.

The jljl1loginapp, huh? Not bad! I use it on my phone when I’m on the move. Pretty convenient, but sometimes it glitches. Could use some bug fixes, IMO.
