Monrovia, Liberia | January 6, 2026 | The British Broadcasting Corporation News correspondent in Liberia, Moses Kollie Garzeawu, has officially resigned from his position, bringing to a close nearly three years of distinguished service with the international media organization.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Garzeawu announced that his resignation takes effect immediately, marking the end of a professional chapter that began in March 2023.

However, no official explanation has been provided regarding the cause of his resignation.

During his tenure, he played a key role in telling Liberia’s story to a global audience, reporting on critical national issues including governance, elections, justice, climate change, and grassroots community experiences.

Garzeawu’s work appeared across multiple BBC platforms, including radio, television, digital publications, and social media, amplifying Liberian voices and providing in-depth, balanced reporting on issues of national and international relevance.

Reflecting on his time with the BBC, Garzeawu described the role as both challenging and rewarding.

“The position was sometimes misunderstood and at other moments deeply appreciated,” he said. “But through it all, it strengthened my resilience and significantly elevated my journey as a journalist.”

He also acknowledged the professional growth gained from collaborating with BBC teams across London, Nairobi, Lagos, and Abuja, noting that the exposure broadened his worldview and refined his reporting skills.

Garzeawu expressed gratitude to the BBC for the trust placed in him and for the opportunity to build lasting professional relationships.

“I leave grateful for the lessons learned, the confidence entrusted in me, and the lifelong connections formed along the way,” he stated.

While he did not immediately disclose his next professional move, Garzeawu hinted at a promising future, describing the road ahead as “even more inspiring.”

His resignation has drawn attention within Liberia’s media landscape, where he is widely regarded as a resilient and impactful journalist who helped elevate Liberia’s presence in international news coverage.
