‎Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County |January 25, 2026|  Vice President Jeremiah Kpang Koung has concluded a high-stakes two-day mission to Grand Gedeh County, delivering a bold message of “open-door” politics and a life-line for the region’s economy: the return of the Putu Mining Concession.

‎”Open your Arms”: A Call for Unity

‎Speaking from the Unity Party’s local headquarters in Zwedru on his second day in the county, the Vice President addressed a crowded room of partisans with a clear mandate for inclusivity.

‎Acknowledging the friction that often follows a hard-fought election, VP Koung urged long-term supporters to refrain from gatekeeping the party. He stated that the administration’s focus is on national development, which requires a “bigger tent.”

    Economic Revitalization: The Putu Mines

‎This project, which has faced years of delays, is now back on track and expected to brief certain level of positive relief for the people of southeastern Liberia as far as economic livelihoods of thousands of citizens are concerned.

‎Employment: The Vice President promised a massive surge in job creation for local residents.

‎Household Income: The project is expected to be a primary catalyst for strengthening the local economy and improving the standard of living across the Southeast.

‎Infrastructure & Dialogue ‎This economic recovery announcement follows a busy 48 hours for the Vice President. On January 24, he officially dedicated the newly constructed Grand Gedeh County Hospital, a vital facility set to transform healthcare delivery for thousands. Thereafter, he also wasted no time in breaking grounds for the erection of modern Student Center on the campuses of the Grand Gedeh County University.
