Voinjama City, Lofa County |Feb. 26, 2026|The Ministry of Public works in Lofa County have sent a serious warning to the general public especially those presently engaged in construction without obtaining a construction permit that their structures will be demolished if they don’t ensure in getting the necessary permit from the Work Ministry.
“The Ministry of Public Works in Lofa County is gravely concerned about the wave of ongoing construction activities around the Country by individual citizens, businesses, and Institutions without obtaining construction permits as mandated by the Zoning Law of the Republic of Liberia.
The Ministry of Public Works through the County Resident Engineer Mr. Vilton AB. Korma Cooman strongly cautions that failure to obtain a valid construction permit prior to the commencement of construction works, will leave the Ministry with no alternative but to demolish any structure erected and found to be in violation of the country’s zoning regulations,” Resident Engineer Vilton Cooman stated in a release.
The Ministry of Public Works county Resident Engineer emphasized that in addition to MPW’s regulations, they will demolish any property constructed in alleys, right of way and other prohibited zones as these areas are essential for public access, utilities and or future infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, the Ministry’s publication comes barely few days following the arrival of the first batch of the Government’s set of earthmoving equipment; Yellow Machines in country’s development that is being highly embraced across the country.
It remains to be seen whether those currently involved the construction buildings in the county are going to abide the Ministry’s release by complying with the Zoning Law of the country; which prohibits engaging in any meaningful construction activity without first obtaining a permit from the Ministry.
