Monrovia, Liberia |March 21, 2026|The Liberia Agriculture Commodity and Regulatory Authority (LACRA) management team, led by Deputy Director Hon. Alpha Gongolee and Board Chair Hon. Josephine Francis, recently visited the Voinjama coffee nursery to review the progress of 87,000 Liberica seedlings.
This initiative is part of LACRA’s efforts to revive Liberia’s indigenous coffee sector, focusing on the high-value Liberica variety.
The visit aimed to assess the nursery’s development and ensure the seedlings meet quality standards for distribution to local farmers.
LACRA plans to distribute these seedlings to farmers in five selected counties, including Bomi, Bong, Montserrado, Lofa, and Nimba, as part of its broader initiative to produce and distribute approximately one million seedlings over the next six months.

Hon. Gongolee emphasized the importance of Liberica coffee, citing its unique flavor, high nutrient content, and climate resilience.
He also highlighted LACRA’s introduction of a digital monitoring platform to track the origin and cultivation of registered farms, ensuring compliance with farming regulations and preventing harvesting from protected areas.
This initiative aligns with Liberia’s efforts to revitalize its agricultural sector, create jobs, and promote sustainable farming practices.
The Liberica coffee revival is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economy and agricultural heritage.
