Robertsport City, Grand Cape Mount County |March 22, 2026|The Grand Cape Mount Women Network in collaboration with WaterAid Liberia, marked World Water Day with a powerful advocacy event in Grand Cape Mount County.
The occasion brought together stakeholders to highlight the critical issue of water scarcity in healthcare facilities and its impact on maternal health.
During the program, women from the county shared poignant testimonies about the challenges they face in healthcare centers without running water, making it difficult for them to access safe and dignified maternal care.
These stories underscored the urgent need for action to ensure that healthcare facilities have access to clean and safe water.
A petition signed by women of Grand Cape Mount County was presented to Senator Dabah Vapilah, Chair of the Health Committee at the House of the National Legislature, represented by Honorable Moibah Sherif, HR Director at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The petition called for immediate interventions to address the water crisis in healthcare facilities.

Honorable Moibah Sherif accepted the petition, assuring the gathering that he would ensure the petition is brought to the attention of the relevant authorities and necessary actions are taken to provide safe and clean drinking water to healthcare facilities across the county.
County Youth Leader, Mr. Laurenzo Karteh, pledged to work with the County administration to provide water to clinics across the county, while Garwula District Commissioner, Mr. Kaidakia Kiazolu, expressed appreciation to WaterAid for providing safe drinking water in some clinics and urged citizens to take ownership of the facilities and ensure their maintenance.
Gender Coordinator, Hawa Magona, emphasized the importance of water for women’s health, particularly in hospitals as well as clinics and called on leaders to take immediate action.
WaterAid Program Manager, Mr. Matthew Dweh, highlighted the significance of World Water Day, celebrated annually on March 22, and appreciated the County Health team’s support for the initiative.
The event served as a platform for advocacy and mobilization, highlighting the critical need for access to clean water in healthcare facilities to improve maternal health outcomes in Grand Cape Mount County and beyond.
