Monrovia, Liberia | March 28, 2026 | Residents of Sinoe County, particularly those in the City of Greenville and surrounding communities stretching toward the Sinoe River, have received fresh updates on the ongoing construction of a 2.0-megawatt mini hydro power plant.
The project, being implemented by the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) with support from the European Union, continues to gain momentum as key construction activities progress at the site.
Providing the update on behalf of the RREA, Executive Director Samuel Nagbe said the project team is currently engaged in critical phases of the work.
“These include ongoing cofferdam preparation, as well as drilling and blasting operations aimed at creating the channel for the dam’s tailrace” ED Nagbe narrated
The RREA Boss further explained that engineers are also continuing soil excavation works at the loading bay area near the site, which is a necessary step toward the construction of the hydro power plant’s powerhouse—the central facility where electricity will be generated.
He emphasized that the project remains on course and is expected to bring significant benefits to the people of Greenville and surrounding communities, particularly in improving access to reliable and sustainable electricity.
For their part, Sinoe local authority said, such development initiative marks a major step toward energy transformation in Sinoe County, with optimism growing among residents as construction steadily progresses.
“Change is coming soon,” Mr. Nagbe noted, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to delivering the project for the benefit of the people.
