Salayea District, Lofa County | April 01, 2026 |Students and administrators of the Lutheran Training Institute (LTI) in Salayea District, Lofa County, are breathing a sigh of relief after receiving support to begin repairs on a school building damaged by a heavy storm over the weekend.

The violent storm, which struck on Saturday, March 28, 2026, tore off a portion of the roof from one of the institution’s buildings on the school’s main campus, leaving part of the structure exposed and raising concerns about the safety of students and the continuity of academic activities.

Following the incident, the school’s administration, along with the student leadership, made an urgent appeal for assistance to help reroof the affected section of the building.

Responding to that call, Jesse B. Korboi provided support toward the repair effort by donating two bundles of zinc roofing sheets.

Construction materials provided by Hon. Jesse B. Korboi for and on behalf of Team Jesse Korboi with Liaison officer Amos Somah plus a technician.

The materials donated are valued at US$160, equivalent to approximately LRD 28,800. An additional LRD 3,600 was also provided to cover workmanship, bringing the total value of the support to LRD 32,400.

The donation was presented on behalf of Mr. Korboi by Mr. Edmond Massaquoi, identified as chairman, along with Mr. Amos Somah, who served as liaison for the team.

School authorities and members of the student body welcomed the assistance and described it as timely, noting that the support will help restore the damaged roof and allow normal school activities to continue without major disruption.

The administration and students also expressed gratitude for the intervention, saying the gesture brings hope at a time when the institution is working to recover from the storm’s impact.

The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of school infrastructure in rural communities, especially during the rainy and stormy season, where educational facilities often face damage that disrupts learning and places students at risk.

As repair works begin, students and staff at the Lutheran Training Institute remain hopeful that continued support from community leaders and partners will help strengthen the school’s infrastructure and improve learning conditions for all.
