Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County |April 9, 2026 |Grand Gedeh County, one of the 15 political subdivisions of the country and gained county status in 1964, is poised for a significant economic and educational shift as construction work commences on its first ever dedicated vocational training facility.
Named the ‘Zwedru Vocational Training Institute’ (ZVTI), located in the Blessing Hill community; represents a pivotal intervention in the region’s labor market and youth development cum empowerment strategy.
Addressing the Professional Skills Gap

Despite its wealth of natural resources, Grand Gedeh has long contended with a lack of formal technical training infrastructure. This vacuum has historically limited career pathways for high school graduates and displaced youth, often necessitating a transition into informal sectors such as artisanal mining or transportation services.
While the Ministry of Education’s TVET program at Zwedru Multilateral High School has served as a foundational resource, institutional constraints have limited its capacity to meet the growing demand for diverse technical expertise.
Spearheaded by Cllr. Poliyon Alphonsus Zeon, the ZVTI is designed to serve as a hub for specialized professional development.
The establishment of the ZVTI is expected to serve as a catalyst for regional stability and economic self-sufficiency as far as skilled manpower development and training are concerned.
