    High-Powered EU Delegation Visits Tienii Cultural, Vocational & Heritage Center in Grand Cape Mount

    Tienii Town, Grand Cape Mount |April 14, 2026 |A high-level delegation of European Union (EU) ambassadors, comprising representatives from Germany, France, Ireland, and Sweden, accompanied by the EI Head of Corporation, paid a visit to the Tienii Culture Vocational and Heritage Center in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia.

    The visit, hosted by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and supported by UN Women, brought together traditional leaders, known as Zoes, to share experiences and progress made in eradicating harmful traditional practices.

    A member of the visiting EU delegation testing on the sewing machine at the Teinii Vocational, Cultural and Heritage Center,Teinii Grand Cape Mount County.

    During the visit, Madam Yatta Fahnbulleh, Grand Cape Mount County Zoes’ representative, highlighted the positive impact of vocational training initiative; including soap making, agriculture, tie-dyeing, and the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) among others.

    The delegation expressed appreciation for the progress made by the citizens of Grand Cape Mount County.

    In a related development, Thomas Brown Jr., representing the Executive Director of “Helping Our People Excel”, announced plans to implement the next phase of the Spotlight 2.0 initiative.

    This phase aims to benefit over 1,200 young women and girls through targeted training, VSLA, and vocational skills development; empowering them to become economically independent and reducing the risk of sexual and gender-based violence.

    The EU delegation also visited the Moibayah community, where they witnessed firsthand the impact of the Recovery of Economic Activities for Liberian Information Sector Employment (REALISE) program.

    The community showcased improvements in agriculture and small business development, demonstrating the positive effects of the project on women’s livelihoods.

    The visit underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting gender equality, empowering women, and eradicating harmful traditional practices in Liberia.
