    ‎Monrovia, Liberia |May 6, 2026| The Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) is pleased to announce that its Deputy Executive Director for Programs, Mr. Stephen V. Potter, is currently representing Liberia at the 5th African Sub-Regional Utilities Roundtable, taking place from May 5–6, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.

    ‎The roundtable convenes key stakeholders from across Africa’s energy and utilities sector to discuss innovative approaches, share best practices, and strengthen partnerships aimed at expanding access to sustainable and reliable electricity.

    ‎Mr. Potter’s participation reflects RREA’s continued commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions and improving electricity access across Liberia. The engagement also provides an opportunity for RREA to exchange knowledge and explore strategic collaborations that will further enhance national energy initiatives.

    ‎RREA remains dedicated to delivering impactful and sustainable energy solutions that are transforming lives and empowering communities across the country.

    Barclayville Mini–Grid Ground Set and ready.

    In a related development, the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency and its partners from the National Authorizing Office of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning as well as the European Union in Liberia are excited to report that “we have completed the preparation of the site for the Barclayville Mini Grid. On this location we will supply and install the following:

    1. Solar PV array capacity with the 500 kwp. We will eventually upgrade this to 1MWp with support from the government of Liberia Public Sector Investment Project portfolio.

    2. Battery Energy Storage System with capacity 800kWh that will be increased to 1.7 MWh with additional PSIP support from the government of Liberia.

    3. Generator 550 kVa that will eventually be increased to 800kVa capacity with additional support from Government’s PSIP.

    4. Medium Voltage network coverage of 4 km

    5. Low Voltage network coverage of 11 km

    6. 1,130 customer connection for businesses and public facilities.

    7. 70 pcs of solar PV home kits in targeted “scattered” communities.
