27 seven students at the Lofa County University have benefited from the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs’ academic and financial aid scholarships. Of the 27 students, 13 are beneficiaries of the academic scholarship while 14 are beneficiaries of the financial aid scholarship. The MOS’s scholarship program is the first of its kind since the establishment of the Lofa County University, formerly Lofa County Community College, officials of the university have said.
“I present my compliment and request that you put all the following students on the attached list for the period academic semester 2024/2025 and submit the total bill. Kindly note that the academic aid recipients are entitled to 100% tuition payment, while financial aid recipients are entitled to 60% tuition payment”, MOS’ letter, signed by Deputy Minister for Administration and addressed to the University President Dr. Isaac Podah reads.
Prior to the resumption of academic year 2024, The Ministry of State announced a vetting process on the Executive Mansion Website for those interested in obtaining the academic support. Several persons applied and were thoroughly screened and shortlisted. In September 2024, the Ministry released the shortlist of students that made it through the vetting process.
Some of the beneficiaries have termed the scholarship as significant to their education, and called on other ministries and agencies of government to emulate the good example of the Ministry of State For Presidential Affairs.
The scholarship program not only highlights the commitment of the government to education but also serves as a beacon of hope for many students striving to achieve their academic dreams.
The Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs has established this scholarship program to provide financial assistance to deserving students at the Lofa County University. The scholarship aims to reduce the financial burden on students and ensure that education is accessible to all regardless of their economic background.
The Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs Scholarship and Financial Aid at the Lofa County University is a vital initiative that changes lives. “As we celebrate the achievements of the scholarship recipients, it is essential to recognize the broader impact this program has on society. Congratulations once again to all the beneficiaries—your hard work and dedication have paved the way for a brighter future”, official of the University said when he spoke with Rural Reporters News Network.
