BOMI – The Board of Directors of the Bomi County Community College (BCC) has dismissed the institution’s Comptroller, Anthony Benson, on charges of allegedly squandering thousands of United States dollars belonging to the BCC, Rural Reporters News Network (RRNN) has gathered.

State Radio Bomi County correspondent quoting BCC’s President, Dr. Zobong Norman, is reporting that Benson was recently relieved of his post based upon audit reports, which unrivaled that the dismissed Comptroller aided the misappropriation of over US$212,000 during the administration of Dr. Abemelech Gbatu, former president of the BCC.

The audit reports unearthed huge financial misconduct on the watch of BCC’s ex-President Gbatu, during whose administration the dismissed Comptroller allegedly performed dismally, according to Dr. Norman.

Benson, according to audit reports, signed blank checks for former President Gbatu, Dr. Norman further disclosed, attributing such act to the sacked Comptroller’s inability to manage finances belonging to the BCC.

The BCC Board is meanwhile gearing up to forward the matter to the Liberia National Police and the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission for further investigation and legal action.

State Radio quotes dismissed Comptroller Benson as declining to comment on allegations of improprieties levied against him by BCC’s President, Dr. Norman, noting that he (Benson) prefers to do so through his lawyer instead.
