NIMBA – A thunderous lightning strike Tuesday killed a 12-year-old lad and left an eight-month pregnant woman, Princess Wehyee unconscious, in the Airfield Community, Saclepea City, in Nimba County.

Following the incident, the lightning strike survivor was rushed to the Comprehensive Health Center, in Saclepea City, for medical attention, where she spent a night, got treated, and discharged.

Between the hours of 5 PM and 6 PM on that fateful day, she along with her brother, Preston Wheyee (the deceased), were sitting at home when accompanied by a torrential downpour, the lightning struck, instantly killing her brother, the 12-year-old, and leaving her unconscious, according to Princess, who narrated her ordeal to our reporter in the area.

Princess described the situation as being a natural occurrence, disclaiming speculations that she and her late brother might have been hit by the lightning because they are thieves.

“Me and my brother have stolen nothing from nobody before as people are speculating,” with teary eyes, Princess stated.

The lightning victim, 12-year-old Preston Wheyee has been buried, in line with the traditional burial rites in that part of the country.

Meanwhile, the lightning strike survivor has made an SOS call to philanthropists and well-meaning Liberians for assistance to seek further medical treatment, which medical practitioners in Nimba have advised her to get preferably from the capital, Monrovia.
