Citizens of Higbelahun town are calling for support to rebuild their primary school. Helgbelahun town, with a population of over 400 residents, is located in Lofa County, Kolahun District and is part of Wulukoha Clan. The town’s only primary school is in a deplorable state, thus impeding normal learning activities for the students.

Town chief, Alfred Kpabah told Rural Reporters News Network (RRNN) that the existing school structure is over 50 years old and can no longer serve the education desires of the town. Hence, building a new structure has become a compelling need, said town chief Kpadah.

Town Chief Kpadah said citizens of the town have initiated efforts to build a new school, but are struggling to raise the needed resources amid the awful condition of the existing school.

The Hilgbelahun Town chief said that the current school building was constructed 50 years ago, and therefore needs to be reconstructed to meet the current demands of the town.

The current school, with one only assigned government teacher, accommodates about 75 students, including students from nearby villages. Citizens of the town said they have started their own initiative to build a new facility that will cater to the growing demands of the students’ population.

“We started brushing a new site already where we will build the new school, but we don’t have cash to continue the process. We need people to help us in the process” Town Chief Alfred said in an interview with RRNN.
