MASSABOLAHUN – Tragedy struck Massabolahun Town, in Lofa County recently, as a three-year-old girl, Musukula M. Sow, tragically lost her life after falling into a water well.

Sow met her untimely death when she innocently ventured into the uncovered well unfortunately without anyone around to rescue her out of there.

The child’s grieving parents, the father, Mohammed Sow, and mother, Bandu Kromah, tearfully recounting events leading to the tragic incident, told our reporter that on the fateful day, little Sow was out and about playing along with friends in the morning hours when they (parents) suddenly heard that she had fallen into the well.

Mr. Sow lamented that at first, he expressed disbelief in the news of his three-year-old falling and drowning into a water well, adding that he is still unable to comprehend the tragedy that had befallen his family.

The lifeless body of the three-year-old was discovered by her friends, who reportedly lost sight of her at some point when they were all playing. Upon seeing the corpse of their friend, they quickly ran to inform her father of the situation.

The well in which the three-year-old girl drowned is located in the backyard of her family’s home, in a nearby swamp.

At the time of this report, police in Lofa County were interrogating family members of the deceased, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

The community is engulfed by a period of solemn mourning over the loss of the three-year-old, whose life was cut short in a heartbreaking incident.

Meanwhile, a 15-man-jury led by Varney Kamara, conducted an investigation into the incident and determined that there was no foul play, declaring that little Sow died as a result of drowning in the water well.

Following the Kamara-led 15-man-jury’s investigation, little Sow’s corpse was turned over to her family for burial rites, which was done, followed by interment.
