    Liberia National Police Arrests Man for Impersonation in Grand Kru County…

    Grand Kru County, Barclayville  –January 22,2025- The Authority of the Liberia National Police (LNP) Grand Kru Detachment has made significant strides in upholding the law and protecting citizens by arresting a 29-year-old man, Eric Davis for allegedly impersonating and tricking peaceful citizens into that  he was an employee of GiveDirect, a renowned humanitarian organization.

    According to Police Crime Services Unit investigator, Maxwell Tarwily, the arrest took place Tuesday, January 21, 2025 in the heart of the city after doing business with the Zion Assembly of God Mission Church in Barclayville, where the Church members through their pastor ;Rev. Elijah Willie Toe raised alarm over the suspect’s unusual activities.

    Reports indicate that Davis was seen approaching individuals and engaging in deceptive practices, claiming to be affiliated with GiveDirect, an organization which is widely recognized for its efforts in providing direct cash assistance to vulnerable communities, and it appears Davis sought to exploit this reputation for his own gain.

    According to Police Investigation, suspect Eric Davis allegedly provided false information and used a forged identity badge to convince residents of his legitimacy.

    Suspect Eric Davis actions not only raised concerns about fraud but also posed a risk to the community’s trust in reputable organizations.

    During the investigation, authorities managed to gather enough evidence to confront Davis, who, upon being apprehended, admitted to the allegations against him.

    The LNP Grand Kru Detachment through its Crime Services Division representative cum spokesperson, Maxwell Tarwily disclosed that the suspect has been charged with impersonation and fraud.

    Meanwhile, suspect Eric Davis is set to face the legal system as authorities work to ensure that justice is served.

    “This incident highlights the importance of vigilance within our communities. We urge citizens to verify the identities of individuals claiming to represent organizations, particularly when financial contributions are involved,” said Maxwell Tarwily, in a statement to the press.

    Detective Maxwell Tarwily emphasized that the LNP is committed to ensuring public safety and maintaining trust between citizens and humanitarian organizations, noting that the police are also collaborating with GiveDirect to spread awareness and educate the public on how to recognize authentic representatives of the organization.

    The Liberia National Police in the County encourages anyone with further information related to this case or similar incidents to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigations.
