Monrovia, February 14, 2025- For some time now, domestic violence such as sexual and gender-based violence has been rising in Liberia, with reports of good number of such incidents turning fatal.

The latest of such incidents occurred by 11:00PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in the Zazay Community, Paynesville involving a 35- year-old lady identified as Alice Clemens Willie, who was reportedly beaten and stabbed multiple times on her right hand and back allegedly by her husband.

Wedding photo of Mr. Oral Willie and Mrs. Alice Clemens Willie back in 2021 when they tied the knot.

According to the story, the alleged suspect identified as Oral G. Willie, also Bassa by tribe and an employee of the National Port Authority public relations department used broken window glasses to beat on his wife resulting to severe injuries.

Speaking to reporters few minutes after the incident, Alice Clemens Willie said she and Oral has been on separation  since 2023 following their wedding in 2021 as a result of his continue alleged behavior of beating on her whenever there was little misunderstanding.

“Oral G. Willie and I got married sometime back in 2021, but since 2023 we’ve been on separation. I decided leaving his home because of his constant habit of beating on me whenever there’s little misunderstanding” she explained.

Mr. and Mrs. Oral Willie during good times.

According to Alice, Oral, her estranged husband for the past years has been appealing to her to make a come-back, but have refused to meet up with her lawyer; a precondition she gave to him prior to any reconciliation and her subsequent return.

“He and I been talking, he’s at his house and I have found myself a place renting without his support and not at his expense. This evening when I came from the church, I was indoor when I heard a knocking sound and when I asked, he responded with insults and later forcibly open the door as well as started assaulting me on ground that he got ‘intelligence’ that I was in with a man but when check, I was alone,” Alice told our reporter.

The Willies outing in this photo but currently not on good term.

Alice disclosed that on several occasions she has complained Oral to his parents about his aggressive behavior of physically beating on her any time without the slightest consideration that they are on separation.

“This one will not go unpunished, I am taking him to Gender ministry and later to the court for divorce, as enough is enough. I don’t know what could be his next plan and my life comes first. I already told my parents and church leaders” She added.

Meanwhile, the victim is currently at a local clinic in Paynesville seeking medical help while family members are calling on the Liberia National Police to launch and search for the alleged penetrator Oral G. Willie; who according to them escaped immediately after committing the alleged act.
