Groundbreaking ceremony for the rehabilitation of 21 major city streets in Kolba City, yesterday, March 1, 2025, took place in Kolahun District. The rehabilitation of the streets is part of the “layout Kolba City project” under the leadership of Mayor Caroline Momo, with support from some sons and daughters of Kolahun District.
The project is the first of its kind since the end of the civil war that raged Kolahun District. Established in 1975, the layout initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and bring about significant development for the residents of Kolba City.
During the ceremony, Mayor Momo outlined her long-held vision for the layout of Kolba City, emphasizing the importance of the project to social cohesion and harmony among people divided over political and social interests.
She acknowledged the support of all sons and daughters of Kolahun, particularly former Representative Clearance K. Massaquoi for being one of the first to provide 1,152 gallons of fuel for the project.
The participation of local chiefs, religious leaders, and motorcycle union in the groundbreaking program underscored the communal spirit surrounding the project.
Many expressed their gratitude to the city government for the project and called on others to support the project they believe will enhance social services in the city.
Paramount Chief Jallah Major praised the initiative and said it falls in line with the developmental agenda of President Joseph N. Boakai. He urged the chiefs to collaborate with citizens to foster further advancements within the community.
Engineer James Chae, who is overseeing the layout project, expressed warm thanks on behalf of the citizens and the authority of Kolahun District. He assured citizens that the project is scheduled for completion in a sooner possible time, promising a transformation that will benefit the entire city.
As Kolba City embarks on this ambitious project, it signifies not just a physical restructuring but a collective hope for a brighter and more developed future for its inhabitants. The community looks forward to witnessing the positive changes the project will bring.
