River Gee County, Fish Town- March 6, 2025 – A resident of Fish-Town, identified as Joe Tweh has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for grievous harm and having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl name withheld.

Judge Wesseh said “You have pleaded guilty to two serious offences, grievous harm and forcing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. These offences have caused significant trauma to the victim and her family. I have considered the term of plea and sentence agreement which demonstrate acceptance of responsibility.”

Judge Wesseh further held that the sentenced would run consecutively, totaling 25 years.

According to the court records, Tweh of Jarpuville Community, Fish-Town, was indicted in early November 2024, for allegedly raping a 12 year old girl who reported that, while on her way for firewood, she was forcibly handled by Joe Tweh and subsequently raped.

After the sexual assault, Joe promised a brand new smart phone and one thousand Liberian dollars to the victim in exchange for her silence but his attempt of bribe did not materialize.

However, many residents of Fish-Town have praised Judge Wesseh for sentencing the 48 years old rapist. They said, this will serve as deterrence to others that may have such intension and at the same time discourage such an irresponsible act across the County.

Joe 48, was forwarded to the National Palace of Correction outside Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County were he would serve his 25 years jailed sentenced.
