Monrovia, Capitol Hill-Thursday, March 6, 2025- On the morning of Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the Speaker of the 55th National Legislature, Hon. Richard Koon, met with the leadership of the National Old Folks of Liberia (NOFOL) at his Capitol Building office.

During the meeting, NOFOL’s leadership, led by its Founder, Momo Alison Bainda, raised several key issues, including the passage of the Elderly Bill at the Legislature, participation in the 58th Session on the Human Rights of Older People in Geneva, Switzerland (February 24 – April 4, 2025), and the upcoming UN Convention on the Rights of Older People scheduled for May 20–24, 2025, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The discussion also covered the proposed construction of an Old Folks’ Home in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

For his part, Speaker Koon commended NOFOL’s leadership for their dedication to advocating for the welfare of elderly citizens, describing their work as a noble cause. He acknowledged the importance of prioritizing the well-being of older people and pledged to collaborate with his colleagues in the Legislature to advance the passage of the Elderly Bill and support NOFOL in achieving its mission.
