Greenville City, Sinoe County –Friday 04, 2025-The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has announced plans to restore water supply system in Greenville City, Sinoe County, after more than 30 years. This development marks a significant step towards enhancing water accessibility amid rising public health issues due to lack of safe drinking water.

Damaged treatment plants to be rehabilitated.

Mr. T. Wilson Gaye, Deputy Managing Director for Administration at LWSC, made the disclosure during an interview with journalists in Sinoe County. He highlighted the critical importance of restoring the water supply system, particularly for local marketers and household users as well as city residents who have struggled for decades without reliable access to water supply.

Mr. Gaye emphasized the safety of the water system, reassuring the public that the project would ensure access to safe pipe borne water. He noted that the initiative is part of a broader effort by President Joseph Boakai’s administration to improve water infrastructure in Southeastern Liberia.

According to Mr. Gaye, the restoration project will not only benefit Sinoe County but will also extend to Grand Gedeh and Maryland Counties. He stressed that the availability of safe and reliable water supply will significantly enhance the quality of life for residents, reduce waterborne diseases, and support economic activities, particularly in local markets.

The LWSC’s initiative comes as part of the government’s commitment to addressing the long-standing water crisis affecting rural communities. Residents have expressed optimism, hoping that the project will alleviate the water challenges that have plagued them for decades. Meanwhile, deputy managing director Gaye told reporters that first preference will be giving to sons and daughters of Sinoe County as far as employment is concerned.

As work progresses, the LWSC has assured citizens of its commitment to maintaining high standards of water quality and safety.
