Health Authorities Clampdown On Illegal Health Practices In Lofa

Lofa County Health authorities led by County Health Officer, Dr. Moses Wologai, on Friday April 4, 2025 crackdown on several drug stores or clinics operating illegally in the country in the wake of nationwide assessment of health facilities by the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC).

A Christian based medical institution, Christ Glory Foundation was among health facilities shut down by Dr. Moses and team for performing illegal medical activities in the county.

“Today, we will close down the Christ Glory Foundation in Voinjama because we are not aware of their operation. You can see the type of staff and their qualifications and types of materials they are using here. We will seize everything and carry to the office until the right thing is done”, Lofa County Health Officer Dr. Moses Wologai told the media.

For his part, the Founder and CEO of the Christ Glory Foundation in Voinjama Dr. Marcus S. Saryon said, the Ministry of Health is aware of the organization activities in the county.

“My brother, we been existing since ten years ago in Liberia providing free medical services in different counties, but for Lofa County, this is our ten (10) months in Voinjama providing free medical services for people in Voinjama, Guinea and other places, as you can see some of the clients still around, so we will take the matter to Monrovia”, said Macus Saryon, the Founder and CEO of the Christ Glory Foundation.

Marcus Saryon didn’t display any documents to the media permitting his medical institution to carry out medical services in the county amid huge presence of drugs and other medical equipment in his facility. Some of the patients confirmed to reporters that they were being treated at the Christ Glory Foundation.

Another drugs store, The People’s Medicine Store, was also affected by the operation as major equipment were seized by the County Health Team. Dr. Moses said all equipment intended for clinic activities were found in the drugs store and taken to the County Health Office.

“We saw equipment in the drugs store and we even met patients admitted in separate rooms for treatment that supposed to be done in Clinic or Hospital, so, we will not return it until they show us legal documents”, Dr. Moses said, adding, the crackdown on illegal health practices will continue across the entire County.
