ZORZOR, LOFA COUNTY – In a bold step toward city transformation, authorities of the Zorzor City Government, headed by Mayor Yanquoi Dolo has ordered the removal of overhanging structures and encroachments along the city streets.

The directive, aimed at improving road safety and city ordinance, is part of a broader effort to enhance infrastructure and ease movement of both pedestrians and vehicles.

Mayor Dolo said the initiative is crucial for public safety and smooth flow of traffic. He highlighted the longstanding challenges that have hindered daily commuting, saying, clearing these obstructions will not only mitigate road hazards but also lay the foundation for future infrastructural developments in Lofa County.

Local residents have begun complying with the order, signaling a growing awareness of the need for an organized urban environment. While some community members voiced concerns over the impact on their daily activities, many have embraced the initiative as a necessary step toward a more accessible and secured city.

The urban renewal effort aligns with broader development plans, including proposals for new road networks linking key urban centers in Lofa County. These improvements are expected to stimulate economic activity, enhance security and strengthen the county’s transportation infrastructure.

Observers suggest that Zorzor City’s approach may serve as a model for similar projects across Liberia, showcasing the importance of proactive municipal leadership in fostering sustainable urban development.

As work progresses, further updates on the city’s transformation are anticipated, with authorities striving to balance rapid development with community interests.
