Lofa County, Liberia – In a major step toward advancing women’s empowerment and community-driven development, Senator Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus has disbursed LD$1.1 million to nine women’s groups across Kolahun, Lukambeh, and Vahun Districts in Lofa County.

Women’s group members in meeting with Senator Cyrus’ Grassroots Women Empowerment Program officials.

The funds, distributed under the Senator’s flagship LD$50 million interest-free Women Empowerment Loan Program, aims to strengthen rural women’s participation in agriculture, trade, and other socioeconomic livelihood initiatives. Each group received between LD$100,000 and LD$200,000 following a thorough community-led vetting process.

“This isn’t just about disbursing money—it’s about building trust in rural women’s ability to lead change,” said Arthur Kowah, Chief of Office Staff to Senator Cyrus. “These women are the heartbeat of our communities, and this program affirms that we see them, we trust them, and we are ready to invest in their future.”

The latest beneficiaries of the program include:

    Kolahun District:

    Kahenjala Women’s Group

    Fassavolu Women’s Group

    Lukambeh District:

    Ngoyeala Women of Boaworhun

    Lukambeh Women for Development

    Vahun District:

    Adaidoma Women’s Group

    Gbonibu Women’s Group

    Nyaheinepoh Women’s Group

    Gbongoma Women’s Group

    Boforma Women’s Group

Community members have widely praised the initiative, describing it as a powerful example of leadership that delivers tangible support to rural women without political conditions.

Since his election in 2023, Senator Cyrus has made grassroots development a cornerstone of his legislative agenda, with women’s empowerment consistently at the forefront.

The LD$50 million loan program continues to gain traction as a transformative tool for promoting economic independence and gender equity in one of Liberia’s most vibrant rural counties.
