Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – Friday, May 23, 2025-Citizens of Grand Gedeh County at home and abroad are mourning the deaths of two prominent women of the county. The women are former Liberian first lady, Nancy Bohn Doe and Cllr. Zeor Daylue Bernard both of whom joined the Heavenly hosts after prolonged illnesses. Sons and daughters of Grand Gedeh and Liberians in general early Thursday morning (May 22,2025) woke up to the death news of Madam Doe, the wife of slain former Liberian President, Samuel K. Doe.
Throughout her public service, she was recognized for her elegance, charitable efforts, and support for women and children, especially within Grand Gedeh County.
Messages of condolence have been flooding in from across Liberia and abroad, with many labeling this double tragedy as one of the dark chapters in the history of Grand Gedeh County.
Some leaders from the county, government officials, and ordinary citizens have conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved families and the county as a whole.
As arrangements are being made for their funerals, the country prepares to honor the legacy of these influential women, who will be remembered for years to come.
Earlier, Cllr. Zeor Daylue Bernard, a highly regarded legal expert and advocate for justice and women’s rights in Liberia, lost her battle with a long-term health condition before Madam Doe’s death.
She was celebrated for her commitment to the legal field, her service to the nation, and her steadfast dedication to empowering women and girls, particularly in rural areas.
Her death is a notable loss for both the legal community and the country.
