Voinjama City, Lofa County-Friday, June 13, 2025-An agriculturalist cum Watermelon farmer in Voinjama district has made a public appeal for means of transportation to enable him convey his produce to market in urban Liberia, probably Monrovia.

The focused-looking agriculturist who hailed from Kolliemai Town, Voinjama district is calling on the Ministry of Agriculture and other local officials to help transport his produce from the farm to the markets in Monrovia.

Mr. Zayzay K. Zayzay said in an exclusive interview from his farm in Kolliemai, said to reporters that he produced huge quantity of watermelon on his farm but there is no means of transporting same to market.

“As you can see, today we are harvesting more than thousands of Watermelon on the farm you are now, but taking them to markets is the difficult part for us, ” Zayzay K. Zayzay lamented in an interview.

Zayzay K. Zayzay earned a bachelor degree in Agriculture from the University of Liberia and came back home to make it practical in his town at Kolliemai Town where he is working with about 24 men and women to improve the production of vegetables in the community.

“We are not only producing watermelon, but we are also farming other vegetables like Pepper, okra, and many other vegetables,” Zayzay K. Zayzay added.

During our tour in the Town, many people were seen harvesting watermelons with joy; while others were busy on the side trying to engage with other projects in Voinjama District.

“We are thinking to extend this project to Kolahun and other places in Lofa, but how can we get vehicle to take our products to in in market,”Zayzay rhetorically asked.
