Cape Mount and Nimba Counties – Sunday, June 15, 2025-The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has reported the arrests of a 74-year-old Ghanaian woman and three Liberians over the weekend for drug-related offenses.

The total value of the confiscated narcotics amounts to approximately LD$266,300 and US$1,397.80.

As stated on the LDEA’s official Facebook page, Grace Kuasi, the Ghanaian national, was apprehended for unlawful possession of narcotics on June 11, 2025, around 2:00 PM in the Fanti Town Community of Robertsport City.

The arrest followed a raid carried out under a search warrant issued by the Robertsport Magisterial Court, which led officers to discover nineteen compressed plates of marijuana hidden in her kitchen.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is around US$1,200, or LD$228,000.

In a separate incident, a 51-year-old Liberian woman named Fatu Passawe, residing in the Up-Town Community of Robertsport City, was also arrested.

The arrest occurred after LDEA executed a search warrant issued by the local Magisterial Court, revealing one compressed plate of marijuana and fifteen wraps of the drug in her room.

The total weight of these narcotics was 0.80 kilograms, with an estimated value of LD$16,700, approximately US$87.80.

Moreover, in Nimba County, two Liberian men, 42-year-old Prince Quiah and 41-year-old Robert Quiah, were detained at the Ganta main checkpoint for possessing illegal narcotics.

They were caught on June 12, 2025, with one plate of compressed marijuana, valued at LD$21,600 and US$110.

Following their arrests, Grace Kuasi and Fatu Passawe were charged with the illegal possession of controlled substances and were sent to the Robertsport Magisterial Court for prosecution, while, Prince and Robert Quiah were directed to the Sanniquellie Magisterial Court to face similar charges.

The LDEA reaffirms its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and abuse throughout Liberia and encourages the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities.
