The newly assigned County Health Officer of River Gee County, Dr. Pauline Weah-Mehdeh, was today warmly welcomed at a ceremony graced by health practitioners, and stakeholders, in Fish Town.

During the occasion characterized by the traditional presentation of kola nuts, symbolizing unity, peace, and mutual respect, Dr. Weah-Mehdeh expressed heartfelt appreciation for the warm reception and called on health professionals to strengthen collaboration and harmony within the sector in that part of the country.

Dr. Weah-Mehdeh emphasized the importance of unity in advancing healthcare delivery, urging residents and health workers to avoid division and embrace a shared commitment for the wellbeing of River Gee County and its people.

During the occasion, Human Resource Officer Delington Pour provided workforce update, reporting that 305 health workers are the Liberian government’s payroll, while an additional 245 including 20 Community Health Services Supervisors (CHSS), 136 Community Health Assistants (CHA), and various support staff, are serving voluntarily.

He disclosed that government is working to transition these volunteers onto its official payroll, acknowledging a recent salary increment for public servants.

Meanwhile, River Gee Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe welcomed Dr. Weah-Mehdeh on behalf of the county’s authorities, pledging full support to the health team.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare and sanitation services throughout River Gee County.
