The Government of Liberia (GoL) through the Ministry of Education has donated 150 modern armchairs to be distributed to two public schools in River Gee County, ahead of the commencement of next academic year in November.
Jallah Sammy, River Gee County Education Officer (CEO) made the disclosure Monday, at a press conference held at his Fish-Town office.
Sammy further disclosed that the chairs are intended for Early Childhood Development (ECD) students at the Gee Foundation School and the Fish Town Demonstration School respectively.
He emphasized that the initiative supports President Koseph Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, which aims to enhance the quality of education within public schools as the new school year approaches.
The County Education Officer encouraged school administrators to take a proactive stance in overseeing the maintenance of chairs, highlighting the importance of the chairs’ upkeep including addressing any repairs needed due to wear and tear.
Many are hailing government for the provision of the chairs, describing such move as being crucial for providing students with the vital resources required for a conducive learning environment.
They believe the donation underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to improving educational infrastructure and supplying students with necessary tools, particularly in economically disadvantaged regions like River Gee County.
