At least six detainees have escaped the Barclayville Police detention cell, in Grand Kru County.

Many in Barclayville and its environs are panicking over the news of the inmates’ escape, with some claiming that the escapees pose risk to citizens and residents of the area.

Moses Alison, prison Superintendent at the Barclayville police, who is also head of the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation Grand Kru Detachment, named the following individuals as those who broke jail; Koffa Sieh, charged with theft of property; Johnny Brown, facing multiple charges including theft of property, armed robbery, and criminal conspiracy; William Warlah, charged with burglary, theft of property, and criminal conspiracy; Shardrick Gbeleh; charged with burglary, theft of property, and criminal conspiracy; and Jacob Weah, also charged with burglary and theft of property.

Prison Superintendent Alison disclosed that Edward Louis, who faces multiple charges including burglary, theft of property, and criminal conspiracy, was swiftly rearrested by officers of the Liberia National Police and the Grand Kru Detachment of the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Speaking to a team of journalists in Barclayville following the jailbreak, the prison superintendent Allison expressed grave concerns regarding the incident, assuring citizens and residents of their safety.

He added that officers of the LNP and the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to locate the escapees.

Meanwhile a manhunt has been launched in Grand Kru County to apprehend the escapees, with Allison encouraging citizens and residents to report any suspicious movements, especially those of the escapees, in their communities.
