Grand Kru County – Senator Numene T.H. Bartekwa, Chairman of the Grand Kru Legislative Caucus, has praised the administration of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai for what he described as transformative developments across Grand Kru County and the broader southeastern region of Liberia.
Speaking via telephone on the Ahteenah Morning Show, a local radio program, on Monday, July 23, 2025, Senator Bartekwa expressed satisfaction with the government’s ongoing infrastructure and social service initiatives. He particularly lauded improvements in road networks, education, healthcare, and electricity.
“Good roads are the backbone of development. They facilitate trade, improve access to healthcare, and enhance educational opportunities,” the senator said. “The recent road projects have made it easier for our people to connect with essential services.”
Bartekwa highlighted road rehabilitation and paving works stretching from Nimba to Maryland County, and from Pleebo to Barclayville, noting that these projects have opened up access to previously hard-to-reach communities in the Southeast.
In the education sector, the Grand Kru lawmaker commended the Boakai administration for investing in school rehabilitation and teacher training programs. “Education is a top priority for us. The support from President Boakai’s government has led to the rehabilitation of several schools and the provision of learning materials. Our children deserve quality education, and we are taking steps to ensure this,” he noted.
He also applauded efforts in the health sector, citing the construction and refurbishment of clinics and hospitals across the county. “Improving healthcare infrastructure is essential for saving lives,” Senator Bartekwa said. “We are grateful for the initiatives that aim to provide our people with better health services.”
The senator encouraged residents of Grand Kru to actively engage with the government through dialogue to ensure their concerns are heard and addressed under the administration’s ARREST (Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism) agenda.
“We must collaborate as a community to identify our needs and contribute to the dialogue with our leaders. Together, we can achieve even greater progress,” he urged.
