River Gee County – Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 – Superintendent Mike Tarpeh Swengbe of River Gee County has issued a proactive appeal to local residents, stressing the crucial role of community involvement in the ongoing battle against illicit drug activities.

At a recent town hall meeting in Gbeapo Joequieken, Superintendent Swengbe called on community members to unite with law enforcement agencies to identify and expose drug dealers operating within the county.

He said drug-related crimes pose a significant threat to safety and development in River Gee and highlighted the necessity of a joint effort between residents and security personnel to combat such criminal activities effectively.

Acknowledging that community members are often the first to identify suspicious behavior, Superintendent Swengbe urged them to report any illegal activities they witness promptly.

He mentioned that timely cooperation can lead to swift actions that dismantle drug networks and hold perpetrators accountable.

“I urge every community member to remain vigilant and report any unlawful activities they observe,” Superintendent Swengbe added. “Through collaboration with our joint security efforts, we can weaken the influence of drug dealers and create a safer environment for our children and future generations.”

He also stressed the importance of building trust between the community and law enforcement officials, assuring residents that provided information will be treated with confidentiality and instrumental in launching effective operations against drug trafficking.

To facilitate the partnership, county authorities intend to empower community leaders to facilitate anonymous reporting, equipping residents with the tools and confidence needed to actively participate in maintaining peace and order.

Superintendent Swengbe’s call for community vigilance and cooperation signals a renewed commitment by River Gee County authorities to address the escalating concerns regarding drug-related issues and enhance safety for all residents. He reaffirmed the dedication of security forces to eradicate drug dealers and disrupt illegal activities that threaten societal stability.

Swengbe urged every community member to play a role and contribute to the collective effort, emphasizing that combating drug trafficking requires the united resolve and participation of all River Gee County residents.

In response, Chief Elder Victor Nagbeh and Women Leader Ma- Dorris Quaye of Gbeapo Joequieken expressed their support for Superintendent Swengbe, stressed the detrimental impact of illicit drugs on Liberian youth and the need to safeguard future generations.

In a recent development, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency River Gee detachment arrested three businesswomen suspected of drug trafficking in Chedepo Jarkaken with Esther Nyenpan, Sarah Gee of Gbeapo Kanweaken, and Helena Alison of Fish-Town were apprehended with marijuana, Tramadol, and ammunition from September 8-18, 2025, reinforcing the urgency for community members to report suspicious activities that jeopardize public safety.
