‎Klay Checkpoint, Bomi County-October 1,2025-The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Bomi Detachment has recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against illicit substances with the arrest of 492 scripts of Tramadol at the Klay Checkpoint.

‎The operation carried out on the morning of September 29, 2025, around 9:45 AM, involved a Liberian national identified as 55- year- old Emmon Gboyah, a Mande by tribe.

‎Authorities have placed the street value of the seized Tramadol at LD$984,000 (USD$5,788 equivalent) a staggering amount that underscores the deadly impact such substances could have had if they had slipped through to the streets.

‎The arrest was led by the vigilance of Agent Janet Massaquoi, a gallant female officer assigned at the Klay Checkpoint.

‎Reports indicate that she intercepted several gallons of oil (both red and burned) being transported from Sierra Leone and headed towards Central Monrovia via the Bo Waterside highway.

‎Upon close inspection, the illicit drugs were discovered cleverly concealed within the consignment.

‎This outstanding detection is credited to specialized training and the unwavering dedication of Agent Massaquoi, whose work reflects not only professional commitment but also a deep allegiance to the state. Her sharp instincts and patriotic zeal have once again proven that women are at the frontline of Liberia’s security and law enforcement success stories.

‎The LDEA Bomi Detachment has described this seizure as a clear signal of their unwavering determination and collective commitment to rid the county and the country at large of drug trafficking and substance abuse.

‎The agency emphasized that such actions send a powerful message to traffickers: Liberia will not be a safe haven for drug peddling.

‎At present, investigations are ongoing to establish possible links and networks connected to the arrested suspect.

‎The LDEA Bomi Detachment under the supervision of Commander Bala Jusu Kamara and his able deputies Special Agents Eric Davis and Jefferson Koijee
