    ‎Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County |Jan. 1, 2026 | In a historic New Year’s Eve celebration, the Grand Gedeh County local authorities, in partnership with LibEnergy, officially commissioned electricity projects in Pouh Town and Gboleken on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

    ‎The turning on of the lights marks the end of what residents described as “Decades of darkness” for the communities located in Gbarzon Electoral District #3.

    ‎A Milestone for District #3

    PouhTown’s people sit under light for the first time since 1964 as some LibEnergy’s technicians look-on. during commissioning exercise.

    ‎The commissioning ceremony drew a massive crowd, including county officials, LibEnergy management, youth groups, and the council of chiefs. During the program overview, County Development Superintendent Mr. Davison Barlee highlighted that the electrification of these towns have long been the primary development priority for District #3.

    ‎”Today, what was once a dream for our people has finally become a reality,” Mr. Barlee stated.

    ‎Strategic Partnership and Funding

    ‎Speaking on behalf of the County local authority Superintendent, Hon. Grant expressed gratitude to the Government of Liberia under the Unity Party administration for providing the necessary funding. He revealed that $400,000 USD has been approved to electrify five key communities in Grand Gedeh including Pouh Town, Gboleken, Tuzon, Sinoe Road community and Cartumansite community respectively.

    ‎This initiative, themed “Expansion and Distribution of Electricity in Rural Communities,” is a core component of the government’s ARREST agenda, which focuses on inclusive development across Liberia.

    ‎LibEnergy Commits to Reliability

    Mr. Jerry Kai, Manager of LibEnergy and flanked by some of his staff, speaks during thunderous celebration by citizens of Pouh and Gboleken respectively.

    ‎Mr. Jerry Kai, Manager of LibEnergy, praised the collaborative efforts of Representative Sokan, Representative Debee, Senator Pennue, and the local authorities. He assured residents that this is only the beginning.

    ‎Reliability: Manager Kai promised consistent and affordable power for the county.

    ‎Expansion: He confirmed that this launch represents “Phase One,” with plans already in motion for a second phase to expand distribution further.

    ‎Beyond Electricity: Infrastructure Boost in 2026

    ‎In a concluding announcement that sparked further cheers from the crowd, Superintendent Grant disclosed that the government has pledged to deploy earth-moving equipment between January and March 2026.

    ‎This machinery will be used to construct vital farm-to-market roads across Grand Gedeh to bolster the local economy.

    ‎The leadership of the youth, women’s groups, and the elders’ council expressed their profound gratitude to the local authorities and LibEnergy for delivering a transformative New Year’s gift to the people of Gbarzon.
