BA Town, Zorzor District, Lofa County |March 24, 2026|March 24, 2026 — Expectant mothers across the 12 towns of Bulyeama Chiefdom are set to benefit from improved access to maternal healthcare following a donation of LRD 70,000 to the Bulyeama Chiefdom Health Clinic in BA Town.
The contribution, made by Representative hopeful Hon. Jesse B. Korboi, will support the construction of a maternal waiting home at the clinic—an essential facility that will allow pregnant women, especially those from distant communities, to stay closer to skilled healthcare providers as they approach delivery.
For many women in Bulyeama Chiefdom, long distances and limited transportation options have often delayed access to timely medical care during childbirth. The planned waiting home is expected to significantly reduce these risks by ensuring that mothers are within reach of the clinic during critical moments.
The donation was presented on Korboi’s behalf by members of Team Jesse B. Korboi, headed by Chairman Edmond K. Massaquoi, who conveyed the donor’s greetings and apologies for his absence due to prior commitments.
Receiving the funds, Officer-in-Charge of the BA Clinic, Mr. Francie T. Gayflor Sr., expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the project will directly impact maternal and newborn health outcomes in the chiefdom.
Health workers at the facility also welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the donation has already improved the project’s outlook. Initial plans to construct a simple mud structure have now been upgraded to a more durable cement-to-mud facility, providing a safer and more reliable environment for mothers and their babies.
Community leaders, including Town Chief Josiah Mulbah, Chairlady Weedor Gayflor, Youth Leader Arthur K. Morris Jr., and Land Law Mulbah Selee, have taken responsibility for safeguarding the funds and overseeing the project. They pledged transparency and cooperation to ensure the successful completion of the waiting home.
Residents say the project brings renewed hope to women and families in the area, marking a meaningful step toward safer childbirth and stronger community health services in Bulyeama Chiefdom.
