Monrovia, Liberia |April 01, 2026| In a significant step toward advancing education and national development, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai has fulfilled key financial commitments to Change Agent Network University (CAN-U) in partnership with Mr. Eric W. Wowoh, the institution’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
The President has provided:
USD $5,000 toward completing the Administrative Building
USD $10,000 for solar energy installation.
These investments are expected to enhance academic operations, improve learning conditions, and provide sustainable energy solutions for students and faculty.
“We are committed to the long-term agreement to support this institution because of its importance to the people it serves,” the President stated.
Reaffirming his broader national vision, President Boakai emphasized:
“Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia.”
A Vision Rooted in National Development
Through this growing partnership, CAN University continues to emerge as a beacon of hope and opportunity in Northern Liberia.
The President revealed plans for international collaboration with a partner university in Arizona, USA, aimed at strengthening academic and professional development. He also emphasized the need for technical and vocational education in Lofa County, aligning with his administration’s commitment to national transformation.
The Story of CAN University: A People’s Vision
CAN University is more than an institution — it is a movement born out of vision, sacrifice, and collective national effort.
The land on which the university stands was generously donated by the people of Fissibu Town, Zorzor District, Lofa County, the birthplace of Mr. Eric W. Wowoh, reflecting a deep community commitment to education and future generations.
To develop the campus and construct its growing infrastructure — now valued in the hundreds of thousands of United States dollars — more than 80% of funding has come from abroad, particularly from:
Friends of Liberia (Americans and other European partners); Liberians residing in the United States and other Western countries as well as Liberians based here in Liberia (businesspeople, professionals, market women, politicians, farmers, etc.).
At the same time, local communities within Liberia have also made significant contributions, providing labor, support, and partnership.
In effect, this collective effort represents a powerful truth; demonstrating that Liberians at home and abroad are working together to move Liberia forward, with support from friends and partners abroad.
Water, Power, and Sustainability
The President reaffirmed his commitment to providing a modern drilled-water system with full plumbing, ensuring access to clean and safe water across the CAN University campus.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving student welfare and institutional sustainability.
Genesis Farm: A National Model for Food Security
Under the leadership of Eric W. Wowoh, the Genesis Farm Project in Wozi Town, Zorzor District, Lofa County, is positioned to become a flagship national model for agricultural development and food security in Liberia.
The 150-acre farmland, generously donated by local citizens, represents a vision of sustainability, empowerment, and national transformation.
The President advised that soil testing be conducted to determine the most suitable crops, ensuring long-term productivity and impact.
Inspired by the Biblical Book of Genesis — symbolizing renewal and provision — the project reflects both faith and a practical commitment to Liberia’s future.
“We solve our own problems when we commit ourselves to solving the problems of others,” said Eric W. Wowoh.
A Historic Honor
In recognition of the President’s leadership in revitalizing agriculture and promoting national food security, CAN University will name its College of Agriculture:
Joseph N. Boakai Sr. College of Agriculture (JNBCA)
The President graciously accepted the honor, marking a lasting legacy in Liberia’s agricultural transformation.
Looking Ahead: A Historic Graduation
In another milestone moment, President Boakai has accepted the invitation to serve as Commencement Speaker at CAN University’s first graduation ceremony, scheduled for July 2026.
“Together, through unity, service, and faith, Liberia’s future is being built today.”
