River Gee County | April 3, 2026 | Youth organizations across River Gee County are intensifying preparations ahead of a historic visit of Liberia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah and delegation.

The visit forms part of her ongoing nationwide engagement tour aimed at strengthening youth development initiatives.

Operating under the collective banner “One River Gee Youth,” several prominent groups, including the Association of River Gee Youth, the Federation of Liberian Youth, the Mano River Union Youth Parliament, and the Liberia National Students Union – River Gee Chapter, are coordinating efforts to ensure a dynamic and impactful for the minister and her delegation.

Atty. Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah, Minister of Youth and Sports, Republic of Liberia.

Scheduled to take place from April 6–11, in Southeast Liberia, the visit is expected to provide a critical platform for dialogue between young people and national leadership.

It will offer youth in the county a rare opportunity to directly voice their concerns, share aspirations, and propose innovative solutions to challenges affecting their future.

The engagement also seeks to deepen collaboration between the government and local communities across southeastern Liberia.

According to organizing committee chairman Randy Nuch Brickson, preparations are already at an advanced stage.

He described the upcoming visit as an important moment for River Gee’s youth to engage policymakers and present ideas that could drive meaningful development.

Brickson said young people in the county are eager to showcase their talents, highlight key challenges, and explore partnerships that could unlock new opportunities for growth.

“Organizers are working closely with community leaders and stakeholders to curate activities that celebrate the county’s cultural heritage while reflecting its development priorities.” Brickson stated.

He said planned events include youth-led exhibitions, interactive discussions, and community outreach initiatives.

However, residents mainly youth groups have expressed optimism that the minister’s visit will yield concrete benefits, particularly in areas such as sports development, vocational training, and job creation.

The visit is part of Phase-2 of the Ministry’s county tour initiative, aligned with the government’s broader “paradigm shift” agenda, which focuses on decentralizing youth programs and making them more responsive to local needs.

Through a series of forums, workshops, and consultations, the Ministry of Youth and Sports aims to engage directly with grassroots communities.

The initiative is designed to gather local input and tailor national policies to reflect the realities faced by young people across Liberia.

Minister Kruah has consistently underscored the vital role of youth as drivers of national transformation.

Her ministry remains committed to advancing inclusive strategies that aimed to address challenges in education, employment and social development.

By fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovation, the initiative seeks to equip young Liberians with the tools, skills, and opportunities necessary to contribute meaningfully to national progress.

As anticipation continues to build, the youth of River Gee are not only preparing to welcome the minister but they are also positioning themselves at the forefront of shaping a more inclusive and progressive future for their county and Liberia as a whole.
