Zorzor City, Lofa County |April 3, 2026| The Superintendent of the Zorzor Market, Madam Varbah Johnson, is calling on marketers to remain calm amid growing tensions surrounding the market’s new leadership.
Speaking in an interview at her office, Madam Johnson said her administration remains fully committed to improving conditions at the market, the acceptable welfare of its members and above all, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities.
She explained that some of the recent misunderstandings and concerns raised by marketers are largely connected to ongoing developments in the area, particularly the current road construction works, which she said have disrupted normal business activities.
According to Madam Johnson, the market administration has continued to engage marketers through regular meetings aimed at addressing their concerns, promoting understanding, and strengthening communication between leadership and vendors.
She further clarified that all fees being collected within the market are not set by her office, but are instead determined by the national leadership of the Liberia Marketing Association. She noted that the local administration is only responsible for implementing those directives.
Madam Johnson also dismissed allegations of unauthorized fee collection within the market, stressing that the current registration fee for membership in the Zorzor Marketing Association is L$2,000.
She used the opportunity to assure marketers that her administration remains open to dialogue and is focused on maintaining peace, order, and progress at the market.
