109 Volunteer Teachers Transition to Government Payroll as Employees

Barclayville City, Grand Kru County –Monday, Nov. 24,2025– The Grand Kru County School System has announced that the Government of Liberia has placed 109 volunteer teachers on the national payroll for the months of October and November, marking a major boost to the county’s educational sector.

The disclosure was made by the Grand Kru County School System through its leadership, highlighting a significant stride in reducing the long-standing reliance on volunteer instructors.

According to Josiah Sloh Negba, the move demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving education across the county.

“We are pleased to disclose that 109 of our volunteer teachers have been placed on the Government of Liberia’s payroll,” Negba said. “This achievement reflects the government’s seriousness in addressing the gaps within our education system.”

He extended appreciation to the District Education Officers, the Human Resource Officer, and other administrative staff for their coordination throughout the process.

“I recognize the efforts of our District Education Officers, the HR officer, and every staff member who contributed to this success,” he stated. “Their teamwork ensured a smooth and transparent process.”

He also thanked the Ministry of Education for its continued support in strengthening the instructional workforce in Grand Kru.

“We are grateful to the Ministry of Education for helping narrow the gaps created by the influx of volunteer teachers,” he said. “This step is a relief to both educators and students.”

The Grand Kru County Education Officer Josiah Sloh Negba further praised the Grand Kru County Administration and the Grand Kru County Legislative Caucus for their consistent cooperation since he assumed leadership as Education Officer.

“I extol the county administration and the Legislative Caucus for their unwavering support,” he noted. “Their collaboration has been key to driving progress in our school system.”

CEO Negba expressed confidence that Grand Kru County’s educational landscape will continue to improve with sustained partnership and commitment from all stakeholders.

“With this level of coordination, I am certain that the Grand Kru County School System will never be the same,” he affirmed.
