Gbarnga City, Bong County-Thursday, October 16, 2025-As the quest for education remains paramount, Lofa County students residing in Bong County have launched an appeal to Lofa County, Senator, Hon. Momo Cyrus and other stakeholders of the County to extend support to their own children, that are attending high school and various higher learning institutions in Bong County.
In an interview with RRNN in Bong County; a leader of the students Forkpah Johnson, called on officials hailing from Lofa County in government to extend helping hands to the Lofa County student community in Bong County, especially, Senator Momo Cyrus.
The Lofa County student community has over the past time been left out of scholarship and financial aid opportunities in Bong County; which according to them this is no longer tenable and this is hindering their education.
Another representative of the students, Tokpah Flomo explained that majority of their members are self-supported and attending various higher institutions of learning in Bong County.
This platform has gathered reliably that over hundreds of students from Lofa County are currently pursuing higher education in Bong County.
The students however, through their leaders have reiterated their calls on Senator Momo Cyrus to extend his financial aid and scholarship program to Bong County in their behalf in order to alleviate the financial struggle being experienced by them.
The Lofa County Students in Bong County, narrated that, for too long they have been left out, when it comes to the provision of scholarships, and thereby appeal to Hon. Mono Cyrus to extend his financial aid to the student community in Bong, both high school and university.
“We want to take this time, to call on all leaders of Lofa County, especially, Hon. Momo Cyrus to please help us with financial aid, so we can be able to further our education. At times, we can hear about other leaders from our sister counties’ financial aid and scholarships program in most of the schools in Bong County, but it’s very hard to hear about Lofa County doing similar thing; something, we are calling on our leaders to emulate from now onward.
“Let them know that some of our members have been removed from scholarship and financial aid listings, because of our origin of county,” Tokpah Flomo, a spokesman for the students said.
The students say if Lofa is to be developed, leaders of the county are to invest in the future leaders, by providing them the necessary opportunities through education; many of the students commented.
Meanwhile, RRNN has gathered that factually, Bong is home for thousands of citizens from Lofa County; many of whom are students trying to meet up with their education goal in life.
Be that as it may, Lofa County is always on the map, especially in Bong, evidenced by the recent Bong County Technical College graduation, wherein, a son of Lofa County dux the college.
In conclusion, both Forkpah Johnson and Tokpah Flomo on behalf their colleagues, have vowed to continue campaigning for educational support till their collective conditions as students hailing from Lofa resident in Bong County for advanced education are fully supported by officials and other well to do citizens. They added that presently, their members are attending the Bong County Technical College, United Methodist University, Sumo Moye Technical College, and the Central Liberia Bible College, among others.
It can be recalled that quite recently, Senator Momo Cyrus posted on his official Facebook handle, announcing one million Liberia dollars financial aid to students of Lofa County University and Free Pentecostal University respectively in Lofa to cut down burden on students.
