Grand Kru County, Liberia — Tuesday, October 27, 2025- Police through Inspector Darpoe G. KARWEAH, Buah District Police Commander is investigating a tragic drowning of a 24-Year-Old Amos Parkpor who reportedly got drowned on Oct.23, 2025 in a River while on a mining exposition.
According to eyes witnesses, victim AMOS PARKPOR and other Miners have been engaged into illegal mining in the County for quite a while now till disaster struck.
Witnesses furthered that while victim Amos Parkpor reportedly got drowned on a mining boat that belongs to one Philip Saah of Bolloh Weayan Jeayan on River Snoh which is located between Weayan and Juayan.
However, Police in Grand Kru County on October 24, 2025, dispatched a team of LNP officers led by Inspector Darpoe G. Karweah to respond on the crime scene, about 2 to 3 hours walking distance.
According to Police investigation, when the team of LNP investigators arrived on the crime scene, they saw 24yrs old man Amos Parkpor, Kpelle by tribe, a Liberian who has been residing in Bolloh Weayan for the past 4 years, Grand Kru County lying unconscious.
The victim was seen lying unconscious on an illegal mining boat in a black mining diving suit with a red sock on his feet’s and said boat belong to 38yrs old man Philip Saah, Kissi by tribe, a Liberian and resident of Bolloh Weayan.
According to report, the mining field is owned by 50yrs old man Thomas Moore, Grebo by tribe, a Liberian and resident of Bolloh Weayan.
Police investigations also revealed that the unconscious person was ordered to be brought on show for the medical term to examine him, and the team of nurses led by Sam Dorley examined the unconscious body of victim Amos Parkpor and pronounced him dead as a result of drowning.
Based on the nurse pronouncement, a team of fifteen (15) men jury were constituted, including the local authority headed by Calvin Johnson observed the victim lifeless body carefully which they reported that, there was no foul played into victim death, no body parts extracted, but the victim died as a result of drowning in River Snoh.
Family members through Williams Riza Tamba and Dixon Jasper said they were satisfied with the jury observation report conducted on the dead body of their late brother and son (victim Amos Parkpor), as they requested from the Liberia National Police to turned over the body to them with a written documents for burial while those that are connected to the boat and said mining are undergoing Police CSD preliminary investigation.
During the preliminary investigation conducted with the boat owner (Philip Saah) who was on the scene prior to the incident, but told Police investigation that, while victim (Amos Parkpor) was diving on his boat, a loose dirt that was once dug by the claimant (Thomas Moore) excavator and failed to carry on reclamation fell on victim in the river while diving which led to his death.
Meanwhile ,a 21-year- old man Victor Johnson, Kissi by tribe was on the crime scene, a 36-year- old man Stephen L. Kollie, Gbandi by tribe, a Liberian and resident of Bolloh Weayan along with the boat owner (Philip Saah) and the claimant (Thomas Moore) are all under police custody pending court’s trial.
